- Get 1 tbsp Italian/Mixed Herbs Seasoning
- Make ready 1/2 tsp Black Pepper powder
- Take 1/4 tsp Kashmiri Red Chilli powder
- Take 2 tsp Tomato Ketchup
- Get 1 tsp Apple Cider Vinegar
- Take to taste Salt
Serve with crusty bread or crostini. Some people like a stronger oregano flavor, others don't. So if the water thins it too much, simply cook it down a bit with the lid off. How is Pizza Sauce Different from Pasta Sauce?
Instructions to make Homemade Pizza/Pasta Sauce:
- Firstly, make a slit X on each of the Tomatoes and blanch them.
- Peel the blanched tomatoes. Blend 3 tomatoes to a smooth purèe and finely chop the other 2 tomatoes. Keep aside.
- Now in a pan, heat olive oil. Add minced garlic, sautè for a min then add finely chopped onions. Cook till onions turn translucent. Then add chopped Tomatoes. Cook till it becomes mushy.
- Now add tomato purèe and mix well. Add salt, black pepper, red chilli powder, italian mixed herbs seasoning, vinegar, tomato ketchup and combine everything.
- Simmer the sauce for 5 mins on low flame. Add 1 tbsp olive oil to finish it. Multipurpose Italian sauce is ready, store it in an airtight container.
The main difference is that pizza sauce is raw, whereas pasta sauce is cooked. In the region where my mother is from, oregano is for pizza sauce, not pasta sauce.
